So here's my proposed itinerary. I tried to throw in a mix of different styles and price points, but if it seems like I'm missing anything you'd be interested in, let me know. Maybe next Saturday? What do you think?
- Leave Enodia at 6:30 AM. SHARP! :) - Arrive at Great Taste Bakery & Restaurant ~ 10. Dim sum, but we gotta keep it moving. - Stop 1: Primark. Fast-fashion retailer from Ireland, I'm kind of interested in seeing what they got. This is the first and only US location. - Stop 2: Concepts International. Streetwear/hypebeast/sneakerhead clothing. I feel like this isn't precisely your scene, but it's worth checking out, imo. - Stop 3: Nordstrom Rack. The Rack, baby. This should be at least a little familiar. Discounted department store clothing. - Stop 4: Buck Mason. I've been to the one in LA, this store is for guys who dream of living in the woods and writing the next great American novel. So you'd be a god among them. - Stop 5: Uniqlo. Affordable, stylish box clothing. :) - Stop 6: Bodega. Streetwear/hypebeast/sneakerhead clothing, but more affordable than Concepts International (think Vans versus Off-White). - By this point, we will probably be exhausted and hungry, so we'll need to head to Mahaniyom for Thai tapas. Sounds good...? - Stop 7: Buffalo Exchange. Used clothing, I used to go to the one in Long Beach, CA, decently curated but not dirt cheap. - Stop 8 (if we're not too tired or repulsed by the idea of shopping): The Garment District. Located in Cambridge, so my suspicion is this store trends more toward the college-aged crowd. Still, might be interesting to check out, and you can also buy clothing by the pound here.
Lmk what you think! We should be back in Enodia by 11:00 PM by the latest, lol.
No problem, I'm excited to see what connects with you. And this works out for me too, because I think the plan is for me and Annie to visit her parents later this month, so I need some nice clothes.
I had a lumbar puncture this morning, so: tired, headache, back kinda hurts. Basically, I feel busted. And I have to lie on my back, which is very boring. How's it with you? You un-possumed yourself by the time I dropped off Hot Cheetos, so that must have felt nice.
I haven't, so this will be interesting, lmao. And actually, I think I will need your help picking out a nice card for them. Just something that says, "I'm normal and not a gold-digging axe murderer, hello." Maybe a nice coffee table book, too? What do rich people like?
Annie's got me covered, but thanks. I thought I told you, but I guess I forgot I never did. It's a pretty safe procedure and nothing I'm experiencing is out of the ordinary. I'm more interested in hearing about how you un-possumed, tbh. (Please, I'm very bored right now. I need enrichment.)
You'll do great! You're lovely and Annie's so happy! I'll pick out a few cards for you to help you narrow it down, if you like? Coffee table book is a nice idea. Maybe some local honey or something? Honestly, rich people can be hard to please but that's a Them problem, not a You problem. Trust me on this one, I have experience.
Does Annie need help with meals or anything? I can make her some freezer meals if that would help?
It's actually not that interesting —I took a Xanax and meditated and once I calmed down, I went back to normal. I think I might have discovered I just have the world's weirdest panic disorder, but now that I know that, I can be prepared next time.
Oh, honey is a good idea. Itās like saying, āHi, Iām so sweet! Donāt pulverize me with your eyes, please.ā
Thatās really nice of you, Whit, and a tempting offer. But the headache should clear up after tomorrow. We can workshop dinner party dishes together next week, how about that?
Xanny poppin lol. Hereās kind of a weird question, but pertinent: what happens to your clothes when you go possum? Iām just thinking of how you could keep meds on you if you were out and about. Perhaps, dare I say, you start using a tote bagā¦
The clothes thing is a bummer. Do you get any sort of feeling before you change, like as a warning? And hm, if you wanted to keep your Xanax on you, it sounds like youād need some sort of bag that wouldnāt be hulked. Not a crossbody, thatād definitely be hulked but⦠oh, maybe a tote?
My heart starts beating fast and I get kind of anxious/nauseous/short of breath, but I'm going to try to do some breathing exercises next time to see if I can stop it.
A tote is a great idea, though! They make so many nice, fashionable ones! I love a tote!

It can be anything, really? The time in the shop, I had tripped the alarm and the loud sound was kind of overwhelming. This time around, I was stressing about school stuff (I have a virtual appointment with an academic advisor btw)? I think I'm just stressed out in general, which is probably why I was stuck in the middle of an Animorphs transformation for so long?
Ooooh, that's so helpful! Thank you! Do you have one that's big enough to carry some extra clothes, just in case? Is there a brand you'd recommend?
Oh shoot, you move fast. Did Parson set you up with all that? Stressful, but really exciting. I saw Harris was looking for part-time work, maybe once you get help with the shop, youāll have less stress on your plate?
Yes, I have just the thing: Kirkland Signature Mesh Shopper Bag. It has a zip top so nobody will see/jack your underwear. As far as brands go, LL Bean does nice ones. Generally youāll want to go with totes from grocery stores and markets, like Trader Joeās or that natural food market in Colchester, because you want a really thick bag thatāll stand up to wear and tear. The worst thing is when youāre walking around and your tote bag rips and your water bottle, wallet, keys, phone, sunglasses case, first aid kit, emergency sewing kit, pencil case, spare socks, travel-sized cologne, Aquaphor, Gun Oil H2O, and sudoku book fall out. Like great, lmfao.
I'm very organized! Also I will forget to do anything I don't do immediately while it's fresh in my brain. I wouldn't have known anything about any of it if it weren't for you and Parson, thank you! I'm going to hire Harris and see if that helps though, yes. I've been trying to do everything myself, but I'm going to try to learn to delegate for my own mental and physical health.
See? You know so much about this already. I want to learn from a master of totes. I feel like a whole new world of storage possibilities is opening up to me!
Delegation! šŖ And Harris is a good kid. Curious and very into books, I think heāll be really helpful.
And oh yeah, once you get yourself a tote bag, youāre never going back to pockets. Although depending on the situation, you wonāt want to put everything in your tote. For example, casual out and about, slap on a carabiner for your keys. Back belt loop if you want to say āIām a reserved gentleman,ā front belt loop if youāre trying to let the people know youāre a dog, but you can be tamed, if you know what I mean. Itās all about accessories.
I think so, too. He seems nice! Also, his mother is lovely.
Oooooh, I'm taking notes on all of this. I have SO much to learn! Carabiners have always looked very practical, but I wasn't sure if I could pull it off.
You can definitely pull it off, you have strong brows and that stubble thing going for you. But not with your Wes Anderson fits. [ā¦] Although maybe you could! Iād be interested in seeing it.
Are you intending on ditching the suits completely? Because keeping them but having other clothes to switch things up could be nice, too. Some days you might want to be a rugged Buck Mason mid-century writerman, other days you just gotta be a Wes Anderson shopkeeper.
That's very true! I don't think I'll get rid of them completely, just because I'll probably never own anything as fancy ever again. It would be nice to have choices, though!
Like, I would love to own a hoodie? I don't have a hoodie and they look so cozy.
[ā¦] Should we get matching hoodies? Something obnoxious. [ā¦] Kidding about it being obnoxious not really but Iād be down to match with you. Like we can get matching Harvard hoodies to be obnoxious as a joke, haha.

Oh my god, are you okay??? Can I bring you food or something? I didn't know!
I'm fine! You're the one who's had a major medical procedure??

All right, that sounds good! And in the meantime, if you think of anything, I'm right down the hall.
I "hulk out of them" (thank you, Eureka, for that phrasing). It's embarrassing! But yet another reason to go shopping for new clothes.
